Hans Kekana High School was founded in 1960 following an extensive programme led by His Excellency the late Chief Hans Kekana chief of the Amandebele Tribe together with the Chairperson of the School Governing Body, the late Rev E.J. Motau. The school has since produced luminaries across all walks of life.
Various groupings have over the years attempted to start an alumni body but it was not until 16th of June 2017 that a campaign let by a select number of former students arranged for a reunion at the school to coincide with the Youth Day Celebration.
The event was graced by some of the former teachers as well as students from the year the school was started in 1960 to date. The return of the alumni to the school was an epic occasion filled with moving speeches, entertainment and ending up with the inauguration of an alumni association.
The epic occasion was filled with excitement when those that had not seen one another met for the first time in so many decades. Moving speeches mingled with entertainment filled the day which ended with the inauguration of the alumni association. Membership to the association is open to everyone but voting rights are only reserved for the former students of the institution.
